Home Technologies to Maintain Your Food’s Freshness

It’s the middle of summer and the weather is hot. You’re trying to beat the heat by staying inside, but it’s just as hot in your house! You’ve got the air conditioner on full blast, but you’re still not comfortable. What can you do? Well, one thing you can do is cook some food to cool down. But what if your food goes bad before you can eat it all? There are a few home technologies that you can use to maintain your food’s freshness. In this blog post, we will discuss three of them!

The first home technology that we will discuss is the refrigerator. The fridge is great for keeping food fresh for a longer period of time. It works by cooling the air around the food, which prevents bacteria from growing. You can use your fridge to store meats, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables. Just make sure that you don’t put hot food in the fridge, as this can cause the food to spoil.

The second home technology is the freezer. The freezer is similar to the refrigerator, but it works by freezing the air around the food. This prevents bacteria from growing and keeps your food fresh for a longer period of time. You can use your freezer to store meats, dairy products, vegetables, and fruits. Just make sure that you don’t put hot food in the freezer, as this can cause the food to spoil.

The third home technology is the microwave. The microwave is a great way to reheat food without making it too hot. You can also use the microwave to cook some foods, such as popcorn. Just make sure that you don’t put food in the microwave that is too hot, as this can cause the food to spoil.

By using these three home technologies, you can maintain your food’s freshness and enjoy it for a longer period of time! Do you have any other tips for keeping food fresh? Share them with us in the comments below!

Gadgets and Technology That Help Dog Training: The Best Tools for Obedience Schooling Your Pooch

If you’re like most dog owners, you want your furry friend to obey your commands without a second thought. But training a dog can be difficult, especially if you don’t have the right tools. In this article, we will discuss some of the best gadgets and technology for obedience schooling your pooch. From handheld trainers to GPS-enabled collars, we will cover everything you need to know!

One of the most popular gadgets for dog training is the handheld trainer. This device allows you to emit a sound or vibration that tells your dog to obey a command. Handheld trainers are perfect for basic obedience commands, such as sit, stay, and come. They are also great for correcting bad habits, such as jumping up on people or begging for food.

If you’re looking for a more advanced training tool, consider investing in a GPS-enabled collar. This collar uses satellite technology to track your dog’s location, so you can ensure they are always obeying your commands. In addition, the GPS-enabled collar can help you find your dog if they ever get lost.

Finally, don’t forget about the importance of treats when training your dog! Treats are a great way to motivate your furry friend and ensure they are always obeying your commands. Make sure to choose healthy treats that will not harm your dog’s health.

We hope this article has helped you learn about some of the best gadgets and technology for obedience schooling your pooch. With the right tools, training your dog can be a breeze!

Are Electric Power Tools Overtaking Gas?

Power tools seemingly make the world go round. They are used by homeowners, contract workers, government teams, you name it to take care of just about every job that needs to be tackled in every day life. From lawn mowers to chainsaws to wood chippers, we rely on these tools to keep our surroundings functioning and looking neat as we go throughout life.

One trend that has been coming along steadily for over a decade now is the switch from powering these tools with standard gasoline to powering them with electricity. At first the battery powered tools were quite limited by the battery capacity. The technology just wasn’t there. If you wanted to go electric and still have a useful tool to work with for the long run, you had to rely on actually plugging the device into an outlet. Of course if you’re going this route then you’ll need an extension cord dragging behind you, which is less than ideal in many applications.

More recently though lithium ion battery technology has come a long way, probably with many thanks to huge investments in both the private and the public sector for all sorts of devices ranging from smartphones to cars and beyond. As you’d expect, the electrically powered tools that use batteries have become much more reliable and subsequently much more widely adopted by end users.

The fact of the matter is that if you can have an electric tool powered by a battery it’s simply a much better way to go. They are seemingly infinitely quieter, which means much less damage to your ears with prolonged exposure. They negate the need to continuously buy gasoline, which may even be a huge savings for people who are using these tools professionally. Even if there isn’t a significant cost savings, just saving you trips to the gas station makes an electric tool worth it in and of itself.

There are also environmental benefits to not burning so much gasoline as well, less carbon dioxide and combustion byproducts being released into the air is certain to be good for high air quality, and will only help with our greenhouse gas issue here on planet earth. Then of course there are incidental circumstances that are entirely avoided, like gas spills for example. There’s no question that electric power trumps gas power in this regard.

The main place where gas really reigns supreme is with tools that require a lot of power. A snow blower is a great example of this. If you look around the internet you’ll find that there are quite a few electric snow blowers out there, and some sources suggest that they are fairly reliable pieces of equipment. However, they are really best suited to lighter loads of snow fall, and most people who live where the snow falls heavy are still using gas powered snow blowers for their cleanup.

Don’t count out the fact that gas engine technology has also been developed quite a bit over the past decade, so while electric power has been making drastic gains we are seeing quite sophisticated gas powered tools these days as well. They have improved in terms of efficiency, pollution, and sound level. Electric still bests gas in this regard, but gas engines aren’t as bad as they used to be.

As technology continues to develop we expect to see more and more adoption of electric, as it does come with quite a few benefits. Given the strides in technology and the advantages of gas engines though we don’t see them ultimately being phased out entirely. There will likely be some balance where each type of power brings it’s best to the table down the road. All in all, electric power has been good competition for gas as it has driven both technologies to greater levels than ever before seen.

Hot Home Spa Products To Keep an Eye On

As with all things technology, the home spa products sector has been making rapid progression over the last ten years in terms of consumer availability. Trips to the spa are definitely a luxury privilege, but these days you can bring at least some components of the visit right into your own home. In many cases, you can do so at a rather reasonable price. Here are three home spa products to keep an eye on if you’re a bit of an enthusiast:

Massage Chairs

If you’ve never taken a seat in a massage chair, you’re missing out on a world of wonders. Just imagine a big, comfortable chair that actually vibrates and hits all the perfect spots in your sore body as you just sit there enveloped in the experience.

From a pricing standpoint massage chairs are still a bit on the high end, and they will be out of reach for a lot of consumers. As time goes on and the technology becomes more ubiquitous, we anticipate that this will probably change. For now though, if you can afford one it will certainly be a crowd pleaser at your next party, and it will definitely be a place you find yourself sitting on pretty much and everyday basis.

Infrared Saunas

Another product that has been gaining some traction and market presence in the past decade is the infrared sauna. Saunas have always been a bit of a niche market in the United States. They’re simply not as popular as they are in the European countries where they have been built into the culture for centuries.

Nevertheless, there are consumers in America who enjoy a visit to the sauna here and there. Amongst those people there are certain to be some who are willing to try a new technology, especially if there are benefits over the incumbent technologies. For example, infrared saunas often operate at lower temperatures than traditional steam saunas.

In theory, this means that they could put less stress on your body. They also are generally much more affordable than a steam sauna, putting them in closer reach to a larger audience. You can even get a simple portable infrared sauna to take with you on trips or to store in the closet when you aren’t using it.

Inflatable Hot Tubs

Hot tubs are another one of those technologies that used to be out of reach for many American consumers. If you were to afford one it was certainly a big investment. That’s still the case for a traditional style hot tub with all of the best features and build qualities, but these days you can buy an alternative for a fraction of the cost that checks off most of the boxes.

That’s right, you heard that correctly. With inflatable hot tubs you can get almost the full experience of the real deal, and they only run you in the hundreds of dollars. They are surprisingly robust in construction, and as long as you’re not planning on horsing around in there they should last you a good amount of time.

One drawback with the inflatable hot tubs is indeed size. They can fit up to four people, but it likely wouldn’t be comfortable. They’re really best for 1-2 people tops. If you’re planning on having hot tub parties regularly, you might want to consider the real thing.

Three Home Technologies That Are Ripe For Disruption

We live in an age of constant technological disruption. On the surface it all seemingly started with computers. First they made simple tasks a breeze, such as keeping track of accounting in spreadsheets, sending mail, and communicating information. Then it took off, and the world as we know it has changed so much in that past few decades that it would be unrecognizable to our former selves.

The big talk in the technology business has been the concept of disruption – harnessing this new found plethora of technology to rethink and revolutionize the ways that products are designed. Some perfect examples are smart TVs, robot vacuums, and of course the smart phone – the pinnacle of all completely disrupted consumer goods.

The world that we live in has changed in so many ways, and as a society we have become so much more capable than ever before – that is, if we have the drive and the wherewithal to make the most of it. It leaves you to wonder, are there even any consumer products left to revolutionize using the technology that we currently have at hand?

The answer is a resounding yes. While we may need to be a little more creative these days to build upon the existing products and bring them to the next level, there are simply some technologies that are begging for an overhaul. Here are just three examples to put your creative mind in overdrive:

Garage Door Openers

The first on the list may seem a little innocuous. Why would we ever need to improve on a garage door opener? It’s such a simple device that serves a basic purpose, why fix what isn’t broken?

A lot of this is true, they are rather simple devices that are generally dependable. Today’s designs are robust enough to stand up to years of use and they really are quite well suited to their primary form and function.

What if they could be more than that though? What if the garage door could open and close as you enter and exit the garage without you even pushing a button? The required technology is fairly easy to imagine and design. How many times have you driven away from your home and wondered if you actually had closed the garage door? A smartphone app could update you with it’s current status, and alert you every time it opens and closes for security purposes. There’s a lot of room for improvement in even the most simple of devices, you just have to be creative.

Lawn Mowers

People have been working on self driving lawn mowers similar to the Roomba for quite some time already. That said, there aren’t self driving lawn mowers available at this point. It may be due to a safety hazard, or it may be due to developers trying to overcomplicate the matter. That was a stumbling point for vacuum robots at one point in time by the way. The programming got too complex and hindered the flow of progress. Once the logic was simplified, the whole project became much more simple.

If you think about it, the job of a lawn mower is fairly straight forward. If you’re a mechanical engineer or someone who can create funding for a project and motivate a mechanical engineer, then this is certainly a product that is not currently dominated by any one competitor in particular.

Kitchen Ovens

To be honest I’m kind of shocked that kitchen ovens haven’t seen a complete overhaul in past decades. Not only has our knowledge of technology increased dramatically, but our knowledge of cooking and cooking techniques has followed suit. Cooking in an oven is a relatively hands-off process. You cut the food, oil and season it, set a temperature, and put the food in the oven for a set amount of time or until the food reaches a set temperature.

Any creative engineer could have an absolute field day with this automation task. The outputs are simple – time, or better yet internal temperature. Once a desired output is achieved, you’re done cooking and you shut the ovens off. The best part? The inputs are even simpler. You only have one – the oven set point temperature. Just think of how easy it would be to have set programs for all different types of cooking styles, and a central smart phone app that controls the whole apparatus. Why isn’t anybody doing this?

Hold that thought, I have to sign off now. I have a great idea for the next smart kitchen oven. Let’s see if you can beat me to it!

Many people are using home automation to keep an eye on their pet when they’re away. A pet camera can give you access to what your pet is doing when you’re away. Home automation features for your home also include access to your home monitoring system from anywhere in the world with internet access and visuals on your pet from any room with home automation technology. The minimum price for a home automation technology device is $59.00.

3. Dog Walking Service

You can get a dog walking service and have someone come over and walk your dog. In today’s society many people don’t feel comfortable about giving someone their key. However, home automation can allow you to unlock your door from anywhere with internet connectivity. You can also make dog walking and feeding your pet a summer job for a young adult. If you decide to go with a dog walking service, make sure it’s someone responsible enough to care for your pet. Listen to your pet and watch any negative behavior they may have with a particular pet sitter.

Then and Now: Home Technologies That Have Changed Drastically Over Time

Technology and the American home go hand in hand. It’s amazing to look back on the technology that plays such a huge part of our lives. When you do, you will quickly see how it has changed over the years. Just as a handy reminder, here’s a list of some of the home technologies that truly have changed drastically over time.

Air Conditioning

Remember the old days when you used to have to manually turn a huge air conditioning unit off and on? Up until very recently, it was a huge chore to have to preset the unit to the temperature you desired. And woe unto you if your AC was out of Freon or if the timing was slightly off. You could end up spending hundreds of dollars on your monthly utility bill for even the slightest variance from the norm.

Today’s modern air conditioning unit is nothing like the old one. For one thing, most modern models are combination heating and cooling units. For another, they are increasingly smart controlled. You can use a device such as the Tado to turn your AC on and off and control it down to the tiniest variance in temperature.

Television

The very notion of how we watch television has changed immensely in the past 60 years. In the ancient days of the 1950’s and 60’s, the TV was a huge, hulking piece of furniture that received three or four local stations. You were lucky if you were able to afford a color TV set. If you wanted to record a program, you had to park your tape recorder in front of it.

Nowadays, your TV is slimmer, lighter, and able to pick up literally hundreds of channels in high definition color. You can use a smart control unit to record programs while you are asleep upstairs or out of the country on vacation. Meanwhile, modern technology allows you to move away from the TV altogether to watch your shows. You’re now as likely to watch them on your PC or even your phone.

Home Security

Remember when the first home security cameras were first unveiled? They were big bulky things scarcely smaller than the cameras that were used to film “Batman” and “F Troop.” The instruction manual was 300 pages long. In it, you found such gems as advice on how to “camouflage” your camera under a handy bush or palm tree.

These days, security cameras are small enough to fit in your front door bell. And they can be utilized via smart technology from a single control unit. Modern home security cameras have a full color, high definition picture and full sound capability. Some cameras are also able to send live video of an intruder directly to the police. In short, home security is one of the technologies that has charted the most positive progress in the past few decades.

Telephone

When Alexander Graham Bell debuted the talking telegraph in 1876, he had no inkling of just how far his new toy would develop over the next 140 years. Today, the phone has become arguably the central communicative device in the average person’s life.

Phones used to physically locked into a wall in your home or a pay station in a crowded market plaza. Now you simply take it with wherever you go. Many people use it to monitor their finances, set appointments, play music and games, and conduct a thousand other activities. Whoever thought getting your first smartphone would replace getting your first car as a rite of passage?

Computers

Perhaps the ultimate item that has changed the most drastically over time is the computer. This is the huge behemoth that used to occupy an entire building in order to perform tasks that a modern smart phone would laugh at. Nowadays the beast has been tamed and reduced to the size of a handful of chips inside a portable carrying case.

Computer technology and smart technology go hand in hand in today’s modern home. You can control a thousand gadgets and utilities with the touch of a button. This is the new reality that you take part in every time you decide to turn off all the lights in your home at once because you don’t feel like getting up.

Philips Hue

The new Philips Hue is being hailed as the best new smart light system of 2018. What this means for you is that you can now control up to 50 light bulbs in your home from a single hub. When you need every light on, every light off, or some variation thereof, you can use the Philips Hue to accomplish your goal within seconds.

You can preset the Philips Hue to turn off and on at certain times during your absence. This is the best way to keep your home brightly lit and off the radar of intruders.

Nest Protect

The new Nest Protect is many industry experts’ pick for the best smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector of 2018. The Nest Protect is able to inform you by voice exactly when and where smoke or carbon monoxide is detected. If you are out of the house, it will also send this message direct to your phone.

Because its mission is so important, the Nest Protect is also able to inform when its batteries are getting too low for the unit to function. You can turn the unit on or off manually or via your phone, making this a truly smart life saving device.

Tado

If you have been searching for a smart control device for your air conditioner, the new Tado is definitely worth your attention. It’s true that most smart devices up to now have tended to shorten the lives of appliances like air conditioners, but the Tado is a true exception to the rule.

All you have to do is place the Tado next to your window AC unit. The device uses special infrared commands to take the place of your AC’s remote control. From there, you can monitor and control the Tabo from your smartphone.
